Tumsa Nahin Dekha is a 2004 Hindi romantic musical drama film directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. The film stars Emraan Hashmi, Dia Mirza and Anupam Kher in the lead roles. The film is a remake of the 1957 film of the same name, which starred Shammi Kapoor and Ameeta. The film was released on September 24, 2004 and received mixed reviews from critics. Plot
The film revolves around Daksh Mittal (Emraan Hashmi), a spoilt son of a wealthy businessman Rajesh Mittal (Anupam Kher). Daksh is a rebellious and irresponsible young man who does not care about his father's business or his arranged marriage with Anahita (Pooja Bharti), the daughter of his father's friend. Daksh runs away from his home and goes to Shimla, where he meets Jia (Dia Mirza), a beautiful nightclub dancer who works for a ruthless gangster Johnny (Surendra Pal). Daksh falls in love with Jia at first sight and tries to woo her, but Jia rejects him as she is already engaged to Johnny. However, Daksh does not give up and follows Jia to Mumbai, where he saves her from Johnny's goons. Jia gradually develops feelings for Daksh and agrees to elope with him. However, Johnny finds out about their plan and kidnaps Jia, demanding a ransom of Rs. 50 lakh from Daksh. Daksh manages to arrange the money with the help of his friend Sam (Atul Agnihotri), but Johnny double-crosses him and shoots him. Jia escapes from Johnny's clutches and reaches the hospital, where she finds out that Daksh is alive but in a coma. She confesses her love to him and prays for his recovery. Meanwhile, Rajesh Mittal arrives in Mumbai and learns about his son's condition. He also meets Jia and realizes that she is the girl whom Daksh loves. He decides to accept their relationship and asks Anahita to call off the wedding. Anahita agrees and wishes Daksh and Jia happiness. Daksh regains consciousness and reunites with Jia. The film ends with Daksh and Jia getting married with the blessings of their families.

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and wrote, "Tumsa Nahin Dekha has an interesting plot, but the screenplay could've been tighter. The music is the mainstay of the enterprise".[2] Rediff.com gave the film 2 out of 5 stars and wrote, "Tumsa Nahin Dekha is a poor attempt at remaking a classic. The film lacks originality, freshness and charm".[3] The Times of India gave the film 2 out of 5 stars and wrote, "Tumsa Nahin Dekha is a clichéd love story that fails to impress. The film is predictable, boring and melodramatic".[4]
